>Allowing mother's to open Bank accounts for their minor children
The Banking sector is considered to be one of Lebanon’s strong points. Indeed Lebanese banks are dynamic and successful. They get creative and cater to the needs of different customers by offering innovative banking products such as the plastic surgery loan “invented” by the First National Bank.. Despite that, until today, no bank in Lebanon gave a mother the possibility to open an account for her underage child. On December 17, 2009, BBAC (Bank of Beirut and the Arab World) became the first Lebanese bank to offer such a product. This initiative came right after the issuance of a circular by the Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) on December 9, specifically about giving mothers the right to open bank accounts for their underage children.

>Graduation of WIT Participants-"Teach Women English " By HAYYA BINA"
3 of WIT centers participated in the graduation ceremony of "Teaching Women English (TWE)" program held by The US Embassy and Hayya Bina . TWE hopes to cater to the needs of women juggling work and household responsibilities, TWE helps to improve their employment, social and educational opportunities. A woman from Deir Kanoun said she is now running the accounts of her family's gas station after learning how to use the English-language accounting program on her computer. Other students, like Danielle, say the course boosted their self-confidence. "English ... lets me connect with others more easily and be more sociable in life. It's not just about learning, it's also to have more self-confidence." As part of the course, students from different regions were brought together to learn about other communities and talk about their experiences. Funding has been secured for a third year of TWE to help women from rural and underprivileged areas gain access to English-language courses.
