WIT is proud to announce that WIT members Therese Saliba and Salam Yamout were among the key drivers for having the MENOG meeting in Lebanon for the first time ever. MENOG5 and the RIPE Regional Meeting took place at the Mövenpick Hotel in Beirut, from 25-29 October 2009. Both Therese and Salam were in the organizing and coordination committees. Therese Saliba is the CEO of IDM, who is hosting the event. Other hosts and sponsors included Ogero, Cisco, and various European entities.

The Middle East Network Operators Group (MENOG) meeting, which was attended by 250 professionals representing 106 organizations and companies coming from 29 countries, offers the opportunity to discuss and debate topics such as networking and the deployment of IPv6, Internet security and the deployment of Internet exchanges. The meeting’s agenda included presentations, tutorials and workshops on IPv6 and ISP security, which will be presented by international experts.
